The House:

Our apartments are located in one of the oldest and more traditional building in Ljubljana dating all the way back to the year 1500.

The houses interior and exterior is traditional Baroque with coloumns in the inner yard. In the ancient times, the traders were offloading the goods for the city here that is why the area is called Breg. Lively trade has caused the opening of the first restaurant in the house as well, called Vitez.

History of the house

The house had many different owners, who all came from big influential family: until 1715 the family Šelenberg (Schalenberg) was the owner, than the house came in to the possession of  Maria Victoria Errih, born Lichtenhaim.  In 1728 a trader and city mayor Janežič owed the house. The ceiling fresco in our apartment (Codelli Deluxe Fesco apartment) was made within his ownership (in 1734), as well as the fresco paintings in the Castle Jablje near Ljubljana.

Since 1748 till 1762 the ownership of the house is not clear. Avguštin Codelli might be the owner of the house, having order creation of house portal- the knight in 1746 (made by Francesco Robba).  Mr. Codelli was named as a Baron by the Vienna Empres Maria Theresa and owned the Castle Codeljevo at South of Ljubljana- one of the largest properties. He received the property from his uncle, Peter Anton Codelli- a successful iron trader in Koroska region, North of Slovenia. Codelli family came to Ljubljana from Italy in 18th century and other family members included Anton Codelli- an inventor in the area of radio telegraphy and automobiles (long distance photo transfer, TV, the first owner of the car in Ljubljana (1898).

We are looking forward to host you at our Codelli Deluxe Apartments.
